The Challenge

A corporate real estate developer announced its intention to renovate a historic property in St Andrews, overlooking the most prestigious golf venue in the world – the Old Course at St. Andrews. New to the golf scene, the developer was interested in generating awareness of the project with golf influencers and local media as well as media from around the world to help introduce and educate them on their international plans for this private membership club.

The Approach

Over a four-month planning period which led to the 2005 British Open, L2 Communications coordinated communications, strategic messaging and arranged events (property tours and exhibits, cocktail parties and group dinners) for Wasserman Real Estate Capital at the British Open, just steps from the site of the soon-to-be-introduced St Andrews Grand property.

Results

Wasserman Real Estate Capital and marketers of St Andrews Grand met with industry influencers, journalists and media outlets from around the world. Preliminary meetings and media coverage have opened the door to longstanding and prosperous relationships. The media coverage and relationships derived from these efforts include Elite Traveler, Sports Illustrated, Golf Digest Companies, Golf World, Golfweek, Golf Business-UK, The Scotsman, Los Angeles Times, Robb Report and Robb Report Russia, Asian Golf LINKS Magazine, Executive Golfer and the Golf Channel.
